- License as a registered nurse
- License as an advanced practice registered nurse, such as a nurse practitioner; or nurse faculty member with qualifying nursing debt
- Degree from an accredited school of nursing located in a U.S. state or territory
- Employment in an eligible Critical Shortage Facility in a high need area (for RNs, APNs)
- Or employment at an accredited school of nursing (for nurse faculty)
In return for your loan being forgiven, you will agree to work for a two-year period at a qualifying facility in an under-served area.
Federal Loan Forgiveness
Depending on what type of loan you have, you may qualify for nurse student loan forgiveness. If you have a Federal Perkins Loan and are currently working full-time as a registered nurse, you may qualify for up to 100 percent nurse student loan forgiveness.
