Registered nurses who are licensed in another state can apply for licensure by endorsement to the DC Board of Nursing, a division within the DC Department of Health, Health Regulation and Licensing Administration (HRLA).
How Long Does it take to Get a DC Nursing License?
It normally takes around 8 weeks to receive a nursing license by an endorsement from the District of Columbia Board of Nursing, however, a travel nurse can sometimes receive his or her license within 4 to 5 weeks after requesting the licensure packet.
Need to Renew?
Every two years, nurses may apply for renewal of their Washington DC nursing license and pay a $145 renewal fee online. Nurses who have renewed their license this year can verify the status of their license.
Washington D.C. is not a Compact State
