American Mobile Healthcare
Now is a great time to consider travel nursing jobs in Washington, DC. Not only will they put you in the heart of American history and government, but this vibrant city offers incredible dining, art, cultural attractions, night life and much more. The museums alone could keep you busy throughout a travel assignment.
The first step to practicing in DC involves working with a recruiter to find your dream assignment; then you will be required to get your Washington DC nursing license. The team at American Mobile has developed a method to streamline this process, and can reimburse some or all of your new licensing fees!
With your District of Columbia nursing license in hand, you’ll be able to pursue dozens opportunities in the nation’s capital, including several RN jobs that are exclusive to American Mobile travel nurses.
Registered nurses who are licensed in another state can apply for licensure by endorsement to the DC Board of Nursing, a division within the DC Department of Health, Health Regulation and Licensing Administration (HRLA).
American Mobile employs a liaison to work with the DC nursing board on our travel nurses’ behalf, in order to make the process as simple as possible. Our licensing experts and recruiters are also available to answer any questions you may have throughout the process.
Step 1: Our DC licensing liaison will send all the RN licensing documents that you’ll need to complete in one packet, via FedEx, with clear, step-by-step instructions.
Step 2: After receipt, just return the completed application within 3-5 days, including two 2”x2” passport photos, a copy of your driver’s license or other government-issued ID, a copy of a completed Nursys license endorsement to the District of Columbia, and a $230 check, using the prepaid FedEx envelope.
Step 3: Visit the DC Board of Nursing website, register for a background check, and pay a $50 fee. Then follow the directions to schedule and complete electronic fingerprinting through a local FieldPoint office.
It normally takes around 8 weeks to receive a nursing license by endorsement from the District of Columbia Board of Nursing. Using American Mobile’s expedited process, however, a travel nurse can receive his or her license within 4 to 5 weeks after requesting the licensure packet.
The District of Columbia is not yet part of the Nurse Licensure Compact, the multi-state agreement sponsored by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN). Nurses with a compact state license will still need to apply for DC nurse licensure by endorsement.
Every two years, nurses may apply for renewal of their Washington DC nursing license and pay a $145 renewal fee online. Nurses who have renewed their license this year can verify the status of their license here.
We know you’re busy. That’s why we will take care of the details of getting your DC nursing license, while you take care of your patients. The experts at American Mobile can also find your ideal travel nursing assignments.
