New Mexico Nursing License

Whether you already hold a multistate nursing license with the Nurse Licensure Compact or are getting ready to apply for your New Mexico RN license by endorsement, the team at American Mobile is waiting to help you find the ideal travel nursing jobs for your lifestyle and preferences.

New Mexico and the Nurse Licensure Compact

New Mexico is a member of the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC), along with 39 other states. The NLC allows RNs or LPNs to have one multistate nursing license. Nurses with a multistate license, issued by their primary state of residence, can practice in any of the other compact member states. (That means that your multistate license allows you to work travel nursing jobs in New Mexico without obtaining any additional licensing.)

How To Get A New Mexico RN License By Endorsement

Registered nurses who do not have an NLC multistate license but hold a current nursing license in another state or U.S. territory can apply for licensure by an endorsement through the New Mexico Board of Nursing. First-time licensees would apply for licensure by examination.

Applicants for a New Mexico nursing license by endorsement will need to submit:

  • An online RN/LPN endorsement application
  • Payment of the $150 application and licensure fee
  • License verification via NURSYS or paper verification form
  • 3M Cogent background and fingerprinting, plus $44 fee

Wondering how long it takes to get your New Mexico RN license for traveling? You might be pleasantly surprised. Once all documentation has been received, the Board of Nursing site notes that you should be issued your permanent nursing license in New Mexico within five business days—one of the quickest turnarounds of any state in the country. A temporary license is also available upon completion of your online application (for an additional $60 fee), for those who need to get working even sooner.

The licensing team at American Mobile is available to answer any questions, assist with your application, and help you through the state licensure process. You may also qualify for reimbursement of your licensing fees.

How to Renew Your New Mexico Nursing License

Nursing licenses must be renewed every two years through the New Mexico Board of Nursing. Travel nurses wishing to renew their New Mexico nursing license can look up their current license and submit their application online, upload proof of 30 contact hours of continuing education, and pay the licensure fee (currently $110).
