Obtaining Your Minnesota License is a Breeze with Our Help

Applying for a Minnesota nurse license and open yourself up to great assignments and peaceful getaways! The first step in the process is a visit to the Minnesota Board of Nursing website.

Applicants for an RN license have the opportunity to do so by examination or endorsement. An examination is for newly-graduated nurses, while endorsement is for RNs who hold an active license in another state. Nurses must submit a Licensure by Endorsement Application form or Licensure by Examination form and pay the non-refundable fees.

The fees are as follows:

Endorsement and Examination: The application fee is $105.00 and the Criminal Background Check fee is $33.25. The total due is $138.25.

To apply by examination or endorsement you will need the following items:

  • Criminal background check
  • Provide your social security number
  • Completed application
  • Verification of Licensure form (endorsement only)

If it is active and not about to expire, you can get started

traveling right away! If you are approaching your renewal date, it is time to take action right now. All renewals must be completed online unless a paper form is specifically requested.

Is Minnesota Part of the Nurse Licensure Compact?

As of right now, Minnesota does not issue temporary licenses and does not take part in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC). The state is currently pending legislation for NLC. Visit the NCSBN site to see a full list of states participating in the NLC and for more information on the compact.
