Nevada Nursing License

The State of Nevada has a lot to offer travel nurses, from the excitement and world-class entertainment along the Las Vegas Strip to desert hiking trails, spectacular rock formations, and the unmatched beauty of Lake Tahoe. You can explore museums, art galleries, and botanical gardens, attend varied concerts and events, go rock climbing, or take a day trip to a National Park.

But in order to work here and pursue your favorite pastime, you’ll need to get a Nevada nursing license. Keep in mind that travel nursing jobs in Nevada are plentiful, and American Mobile travel nurses can gain access to some exclusive facilities.

Applying for Your Nevada State Nursing License

Registered nurses who wish to travel and hold a current nursing license in another state or U.S. territory can apply for licensure by endorsement through the Nevada State Board of Nursing.

When applying, you’ll need to submit:

  • A completed application via the Nevada Nurse Portal, including a fee of $105 (RN)
  • A copy of evidence of graduation from your nursing education program; the document must indicate the nursing degree and graduation date.
  • Official verification (or endorsement) from your original state of licensure. If that state is enrolled in Nursys, you must submit verification through this system. If your state of licensure does not participate in Nursys, you’ll need to send an endorsement form to that state licensing board with their appropriate fee. The license will not be issued until the Board receives fingerprint reports from the Nevada Department of Public Safety and the FBI.

A licensing expert at American Mobile can assist you with this process and answer any questions you may have.

How Long Does it Take to Get Your License?

If your license application is complete and meets the criteria for issuance, Nevada’s Board of Nursing will generally issue a temporary nursing license within 1-2 weeks of receipt. The timeframe for issuing a permanent license will depend on when all required documentation is received, including fingerprint reports.

*Applicants can look up the status of their nursing license via the Nevada Nurse Portal.

Is Nevada Apart of the Nurse Licensure Compact?

As of right now, Nevada does not issue temporary licenses and does not take part in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC). The state is currently pending legislation for NLC. Visit the NCSBN site to see a full list of states participating in the NLC and for more information on the compact.

What You Need to Know About Renewing Your Nevada Nursing License

A Nevada nurse license can be renewed every two years, and nurses are encouraged to register with Nursys e-Notify, which supplies information on license renewals. Nurses will not receive renewal notices from the Nevada State Board of Nursing.

RNs applying for their Nevada nursing license renewal will need to complete 30 hours of continuing education within the license period, and a one-time bioterrorism course. Renewals must be submitted online with a renewal fee of $100.
