There are a total of 11 Labor Delivery Rooms, 1 OB Room, 4 OB Overflow beds, and 3 Recovery Room. Nurse to patient ratios 1:2 for all shifts. No Ancillary Staff. Patients in this Labor Delivery unit range in age from Neonates, Infants, Adolescents and Adults. Staff works in 8 hour shifts. Unit patient population: Obstetrics-high and low risk. Required Certs: BLS, NRP, Fetal Monitoring, Scrub, Circulate. Patient Care Delivery System: Total Patient Care: One nurse to take care of the total needs of the patient. Medication system: Unit Dose Medication System. Special Unit Procedures: Vaginal Deliveries; Cesarean Sections, Tubal Ligations, Dilatation and Curettage, Cerclages, Ultrasounds (transabdominal, vaginal); Amniocentesis, Amnioinfusion, Versions, Hysterectomies. Meds and drips administered: Magnesium Sulfate, Pitocin, Heparin, Insulin. Documentation System: Patient Care Documentation System. Supplemental Staff required to float when necessary.
