Job Description & Requirements

Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse

The Hospice Registered Nurse utilizes a combination of nursing process, theoretical and experiential knowledge to assist in implementing and modifying the Hospice Plan of Care for terminally ill infants, children, adolescents and adults. Collaboration with the family/caregivers, attending physician and the Hospice Interdisciplinary Team is essential. The Hospice Registered Nurse provides care to the patient/family in the setting the patient calls home, whether that be a private residence, assisted living facility, group home , acute or long term care facility. Reports To: HomeCare/Palliative Care/Hospice Director EDUCATION: Minimum requirement of Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing. LICENSURE: Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nebraska without restriction. EXPERIENCE: Two or more years’ experience in nursing with medical/surgical nursing, oncology or palliative care nursing. Hospice nursing experience preferred. Certification in Hospice and Palliative Care Nursing is preferred.
