How to Apply for a Nursing License in Colorado

Colorado is a member of the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC)

A Colorado nurse license can be obtained via examination or endorsement through the Colorado Board of Nursing. Examinations are $135 for new licensees who do not have an active RN license in another state. Endorsements are $90 for nurses who hold an active license in another state. Other Requirements needed to obtain a Colorado RN license include:

  • Completed application
  • Affidavit of Eligibility Form
  • Copy of an active license
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship
  • Answer a variety of screening questions

Colorado Nursing License Renewal

A Simple Online Process

Nurses who already hold a nursing license in Colorado need to be aware of license expiration. Online License Renewal does not open until approximately 4-6 weeks prior to the Colorado state nursing license expiration date. After that, a nurse can complete the renewal process online.

Nurses should note that there is a $108 fee for nursing license renewal.

RNs who have let their Colorado license expire or lapse need to apply for reinstatement.
